We pick you up from your hotel after breakfast and drive to Riuki Cultural Centre which is located about 25 km's outside of Nairobi, Kenya in the Kikuyu Heartland of Kiambu.
Riuki Cultural Centre is devoted to the Kikuyu, Kenya’s largest tribe and offers a unique experience of this tradition rich culture existing in a modern world. You will opportunity to have the kikuyu traditional lunch at the centre.
In the afternoon you proceed to Sagana for your overnight. [ L,D]
Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga is the mythical garden of Eden ,” or place connected with the origin of the Gikuyu tribe of central Kenya. This place figures into the origin stories of the tribe. It is also the central point of dispersal of the Gikuyu after arrival into the Mt. Kenya area. in the afternoon you have a choice to do either some donkey riding, fishing or canoeing on Tana river, overnight at Thingira Cultural Village [ B,L,D]
Today you experience a typical day with the kikuyu people. We shall do some tea picking [and coffee if in season], some manual milking of the cows, collecting fire wood and other daily chores. In the evening we engage in cooking a traditional meal for dinner. [ B,L,D]
After breakfast we proceed to samburu national park. Afternoon game viewing. Samburu national reserve is home to various wild game, the buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and other plains game. Species of game unique to Samburu game reserve include the beisa oryx, the long necked Gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and the blue shanked Somali ostrich. Overnight at the lodge. We have a morning game drive. In the afternoon we take a cultural visit to the samburu people. The Samburu people are closely related to the Maasai tribe. Both these tribes speak a similar language, derived from Maa. Overnight at your lodge. [ B,L,D]
After breakfast we depart for Meru. The Meru tribe is an ethnic group of Bantus living in the fertile agricultural land in the northeastern part of Mount Kenya. Here we shall have opportunity to interact with the Ameru tribe and their famous council of elders, Njuri Ncheke. Traditionally These council members had power to administer justice to anyone accused and found guilty. To date it is still a very powerful decision making council among the Amery people. Overnight in Meru town. [ B,L,D]
Depart after breakfast and drive to Nairobi stopping over the rice growing plains of Mwea.
